Just returned yesterday from waaaay up north in a place called Oxford, Mississippi. Funny when a town in Mississippi is considered up north. Anyway, I visited my BF with her NB (new baby). Baby Nicolas will be two weeks old tomorrow and stole my heart. He and Mom are doing very well and, as for the NB, well, you can see for yourself. Careful, though. It might ruin you for a couple of hours.

Awwwww! I promise the adult in the picture (his mom) has small hands. He's just that wee.

See how beautiful? Now, go run along and make something tiny.
For those of you wondering where the baby bootie pattern came from, I didn't mean to be elusive. I just forgot to mention it. The book, which I've noted before here because I've made several items from it, is called Simple Knits for Cherished Babies by Erika Knight. If you don't have it, you should, as every pattern in it is adorable and easy to make. Just whereever you see the word "cashmere," mentally insert "Rowan Wool-Cotton" and you'll never look back. I know dear Erika meant to say Rowan Wool-Cotton. With all the cute baby things lying around, she must have just plumb forgot.
Speaking of babies, if you haven't done so already, drop by Shelby's place and wish her congratulations. Seems like everyone I know lately has or is about to have a baby. Are these hurricane babies, brought on by lingering power failures? Are some people just now getting around to conceiving their hurricane babies? I'm submitting it for your consideration because frankly I'm feeling a little in the minority here.
Now, pardon me whilst I go check on my city ham. I'm an unapologetic disciple of Alton Brown and when he says do it, by George, I do.
I've company coming today, staying through Saturday, neophytes to the Gulf Coast, and I've got to show them a good time. Sounds easier than it is, though, when you consider two thirds of the party is 10 years old. Luckily, when nothing else sounds good, we've got ham sandwiches to pull us through the dry spell. Have a great weekend!!
Posted by Rachel at March 24, 2005 12:10 PMToo cute! I've just finished a series of baby knits (4 new babies in 3 months, I think!). I'm always surprised when I discover that the baby really is small enough to fit into whatever I've made.
Posted by: Katie at March 24, 2005 07:31 PMAww! For a second I thought I could actually smell the new baby, but then I remembered I'd been playing with Playdoh with my own children. It may not be the same smell, but they both tickle the same part of the brain, I'm thinking.
Posted by: Susie at March 25, 2005 05:14 PMOh, how cuuuuuuuuute! The NB reminds me of my little Cap'n when he was born. He came a month early and was so tiny; the pacifier looked gigantesque in his mouth. Hee!
